Artist Statement 2021

I was the child who drew in the dirt, fascinated with the natural world and my place in it. Trees are elemental to me. I struggle with progress for progress’s sake and mourn the loss of collective wisdom and vision.

After studying Graphic Design in Sydney, I worked in studios in the city and tree changed to the Albury area in 1980. I transitioned to Fine Art, studying at TAFE (Riverina Institute Albury) and then Curtin University B.A (Visual Arts).

I have taught drawing, painting and design at TAFE for many years, also doing community workshops and regularly commissioned artwork for regional councils. I have always loved nature and my work centers around the natural world, climate change and how humans interact with the environment.
