ABOUT US

The Tree Veneration Society is a trans-disciplinary, contemporary eco-arts collective based in Sydney, that is focused on trees, their ecosystems, and human interactions with them.

We aim to inspire our audience to respect the natural world through sensorial experiences with it, via our multidisciplinary exhibitions, and our intergenerational workshops, combining environmental education with art.

Our vision is to foster a society that appreciates and protects trees and nature, and understands not only the value they offer the non human species that inhabit, feed and live off them, but also the important, life enhancing, yet often intangible services they offer human societies.

We have a growing membership that includes not only artists, but also scientists, poets, musicians, teachers and others, all bound together by one commonality: a love and respect for trees.

We love to collaborate on projects with like minded organisations and individuals, and have charity status, operating with ethics, respect, compassion, innovation and quality in all that we do.

“How we perceive and contemplate the land affects how we treat the land. If we see the land as separate from ourselves we are less likely to honour and respect it.” Louise Fowler-Smith

The Tree Veneration Society acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. Sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be, Aboriginal land.
