Amanda Farquharson

As a multi-disciplined artist, working predominantly on papers, I have been exploring historical elements of local landscape & searching for the aesthetic in urban eastern Sydney. This has led me to Victoria Barracks, colonial sandstone & architectural pediments, & magnificent fig trees at Kippax Lake- Moore Park, the former site of a zoo in early Sydney.

Working with found local clay & ochres, plant matter & mixed media, combined with weaving local grasses, found feathers & collected shards of culture to weave a body of works that conceptualise landscape & its hidden histories.
