Artist Statement 2025

Bianca Yrure is a Spanish Filipino Artist, Arts Facilitator and Creative Producer, born and living on Dharug Country (Sydney) Australia. Her practice is multidisciplinary, encompassing painting, drawing, photography, illustration, sculpture and installation.

The focus of her work speaks to the importance of our connection and curiosity towards nature. Bianca’s artistic practice is inspired by nature as a sacred space for contemplation, emphasizing the interconnectedness and unity of all living things. Her work explores themes of environmental protection, with a particular reverence for trees, symbolizing her deep ecological connection. Through immersion in the landscape, Bianca responds intuitively using in-situ sketches, memory, and photographs, selecting media that best express the spirit of place. Her vibrant visual language invites viewers to reconnect with nature and themselves, as an ode to our beautiful and fragile places, and the seen and unseen beings that inhabit and keep them thriving.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from The University of Sydney in 2017, she has been involved in numerous exhibitions, markets and festivals across Australia. She has produced two solo exhibitions in 2019 at GalleryONE88 and in 2023 following a self-directed art residency at Eramboo Artist Environment. In 2024 she was a finalist in Letherbridge Small Scale Art Awards Salon de Refuse and highly commended in Art Edit Magazines Self Represented Artist Award in 2022 and the Camden Art Prize in 2019. She has attended Arts residencies in both Australia and Japan.

Bianca facilitates art and nature workshops, classes, community events such as urban sketch meetups and wellness retreats around the Greater Sydney Region. Her background as a Creative Producer has seen her co-curate the annual Bob Brown Foundation ‘Art for Takayna Exhibition’ in 2024 and 2025, as well as producing major public mural projects in previous lines of work.
