Artist Statement 2026
Yenny Hartono arrived in Australia in 2006 with her husband and two children. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. Her interest in art began in her early years in Indonesia where she took every opportunity to expose and educate herself both to Indonesian art itself and the artists involved.
She works with acrylic, mixed media and clay to produce artworks often defining her love of nature especially for flowers, plants and the natural world around her. Her clay work pushes to experiment and experience how clay can be used to produce sound. Her art often portrays her cultural background which is of Chinese Nyonya Baba heritage.
As her children grew in Sydney, she studied Floral Artistry, soon taking part in group exhibitions in both Canberra and Melbourne like Flori Art and Melbourne International Flower Garden Show. Yenny’s first solo exhibition was in Newtown, Sydney in 2023 and she will be having another one in October this year.
