Whispers from the Canopy showcases recent works by 26 members of the Tree Veneration Society. The exhibition invites visitors to consider the quiet, enduring presence of trees in our lives and landscapes, seen through each artist’s unique attention and perspective.
Trees are more than a backdrop; they are living witnesses to change, memory, and resilience. From towering bushland giants to familiar backyard gums, they shape our connection to place and time. Whispers from the Canopy asks: What have the trees seen? And what might they tell us, if we paused to listen?
Art plays a vital role in deepening our understanding of nature. While humans have always felt nature’s presence, sometimes as threat, sometimes as resource, artists help us look again, revealing what is essential in our relationship with the natural world. Through their work, we are invited to share moments of wonder, reflection, or tension experienced in that exchange.
The Tree Veneration Society hopes visitors will discover their own sense of interconnectedness with the beautiful, mysterious, essential, and at times formidable natural world.
